Engineering leader. Hands-on builder.

Great software.
Great teams.
Built together.

I’m Ryan, an engineering leader who still writes code. At Yourgi, I lead the team building a marketplace for pet parents and care providers.

What I’ve helped build.

Yourgi · 2021—present

A pet-care platform,
built from the ground up.

I helped build the technology platform at Destination Pet that became Yourgi, an independent company. It now connects pet parents and care providers in a two-sided marketplace.

The engineering

I built consumer and provider experiences across native iOS, Android, and Vue.js web. Today I own mobile architecture, prototype new capabilities, and write critical-path code alongside the team.

The organization

I lead engineering across web, mobile, and QA, guiding the platform’s evolution from a booking tool to a two-sided marketplace. I work with executive partners on technical direction, roadmap priorities, and investment decisions.

AI in the day-to-day work.

I introduced AI-assisted development across the engineering organization. I work hands-on with Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers, and agentic workflows to bring new tools into everyday delivery.

Still a builder.

I started with enterprise systems: architecture, integrations, and troubleshooting alongside customers. At Gift Card Impressions, I paired AWS infrastructure with iOS development. Mobile became my focus, from startup apps to Garmin Connect.

Engineering management expanded the work to include feedback, career development, and delivery. I’ve kept building through that transition. At Yourgi, I’m responsible for the organization and still contribute to the software it ships.

    Gift Card Impressions

    Technical Architect

I designed AWS infrastructure and built iOS apps in Swift and Objective-C at a startup.

  7. 2008 — 2013

    Hyland / Perceptive Software

    Technical Architect & Consultant

I worked directly with enterprise customers on architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and integrations.

What it’s like to work with me.

  1. Stay close to the code.

I work through architecture decisions by prototyping, reviewing code, and implementing critical paths alongside the team.

  2. Make time for people.

Code reviews, one-on-ones, and career development are part of my job—not something to fit in after delivery.

  3. Connect the roadmap to the business.

I work with executive partners to explain technical decisions, weigh investment priorities, and connect the engineering plan to business goals.
